About the Philadelphia Radio Archives

The Philadelphia Radio Archives is devoted to preserving the history of Philadelphia radio broadcasting. The site is written by Alan Boris, an avid broadcast historian, author, member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, and a technology professional. (More about that here) This site was founded in late 1996, originally located on the AOL Hometown service at http://members.aol.com/PhilaRadio. In the first ten years of operation, tens of thousands of visitors stopped by to learn about the history of Philadelphia radio. Many thanks to the dozens of people (both inside and outside the industry) who have sent in compliments, corrections and advice.

The servers where this site was fomerly hosted were unceremoniously shut down by AOL in November, 2008. In early 2009, the site was relocated to the PhillyRadioArchives.com domain, and in May of 2009, a total site redesign and modernization was completed.

This site was redesigned again in Summer 2011 to coincide with the release of the Author's book, Philadelphia Radio. For more information about the book, see this page.

The site was brought up to modern standards in 2023 with a more responsive design and hosting on a Content Delivery Network. (CDN)
